This Privacy Policy describes how Island Guides apps ("we", "us") handle your information when you use our iOS applications (Kefalonia Guide, Ithaca Guide, and future titles).
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide the service:
- Anonymous user ID — we assign an anonymous identifier via Firebase Authentication to sync your favourites across devices. No name, email or password is required.
- Favourites — places you mark as favourite are stored in Firebase Firestore linked to your anonymous ID.
- Usage analytics — we collect anonymous usage events (e.g. which places are viewed, map opened) via Firebase Analytics to improve the app. No personally identifiable information is included.
- Crash reports — anonymous crash data collected via Firebase Crashlytics to fix bugs.
- Location — used only to show your position on the in-app map. Location data is never stored or transmitted to our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To sync your favourite places across app sessions
- To improve app performance and fix crashes
- To understand which features are most useful
We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Firebase Services
The apps use Google Firebase services (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Storage). Data is processed by Google LLC under their Privacy Policy available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
4. In-App Purchases
The apps offer a one-time in-app purchase to unlock premium content. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment or financial data.
5. Data Retention
Your anonymous account and favourites are retained until you delete the app or request deletion. To request deletion of your data, contact us at the email below.
6. Children's Privacy
The apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
